Anesthesia Services at the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Utah
Forms of Anesthesia
The Ambulatory Surgical Center of Utah offers all forms of anesthesia. On the day of your procedure, your anesthesiologist discuss the appropriate type of anesthesia for your procedure, which may include:
-
General anesthesia
-
Nerve block anesthesia
-
Intravenous (IV) sedation

As you prepare for surgery, you’ll receive a comprehensive evaluation during your pre-procedure appointment. Your evaluation includes consultation for complex medical conditions and an assessment of the effects of anesthesia on your health. Patients who will be unconscious during their surgery are not permitted to drive afterward and will need to coordinate with a trusted person who can drive them home.
Safety During Anesthesia
Anesthesiologists and our support staff are in the operating room throughout your procedure to continuously monitor your safety and well-being. They use a variety of technologies, including brain-wave monitoring, to detect activity and ensure you remain asleep during general anesthesia. Heart function monitors also help maximize your safety.
